To help select the number of conversion unit types, you can filter by U.S., Metric, or Both. By selecting
one of the specific types, the Convert From and Convert To selection boxes will
automatically display only those unit types choosen.
Convert From / To
It is required to select at least one, possibly more, of the conversion units in the
Convert From and Convert To
selection boxes. To select more than one item, hold down the Ctrl keyboard key while left-mouse clicking
additional items. For each conversion problem created during worksheet creation, the generator will randomly
select a single conversion unit from each selection box.
The Starting and Ending "From" numbers are mandatory inputs. These values indicate the number range
that the worksheet generator will use to randomly select a number that represents the Convert From
conversion unit value. For example, if you input 10 and 100 for your starting and ending numbers, the conversion
generator will always select a number in the range from 10 to 100 for each unit to convert from.
This selection allows you to choose how many problems the worksheet will contain. Note that if
there is a large number of problems, and you choose a larger text size, the worksheet may span
more than a single page when printed.
The size of the worksheet text can be changed by using this selection.
This option allows you to select the number of decimal places to display in conversion results. When a decimal
result is included, no rounding is done; the decimal result is instead truncated to the number of decimal
places selected. The conversion worksheet generator will create answer sheets with decimal values when
either of the following conditions exists:
The Convert From unit type is different than the Convert To unit type
(e.g. feet to meters). Another way to say this is that one type is U.S. and the other is Metric.
The Convert remainder to "From" units option is NOT selected. See the help text
for this option below for more information.
Name/date/score - By enabling this option, each fact sheet will automatically have a page header
which will include a space for name, date, and score. This header is not included on answer sheets.
Number problems 1... - By selecting this option, all conversion problems will be numbered from
1 to the highest number.
Convert remainder to "From" units - This option, enabled by default, will create conversion
problems where any decimal remainder will be converted to the Convert From unit.
This is best illustrated by an example. If this option is enabled and you are converting a value of
15 from inches to feet, the required problem and answer will be displayed as:
15 inches = 1 feet, 3 inches
If this option is not selected, any conversion remainder will be displayed as a decimal value; the result
for the example above would be displayed as:
15 inches = 1.25 feet
Allow To/From swap - Enable this option to indicate that you want the generator to
randomly swap (i.e. reverse the order) of the Convert From unit and the
Convert To unit. For example, if this option was enabled and if you chose
to convert from inches to feet, some conversion problems will convert from inches to feet
while others will swap the convert from feet to inches.
Once you have entered the worksheet creation data, and selected any options, you may choose to generate either the worksheet problems or answers.
Problems - This choice will
generate and display your worksheet (without answers). Each worksheet will
be displayed in a new browser window. Once displayed, you can review and/or print
Answers - This choice will
display your worksheet (with answers). Each worksheet will be displayed in
a new browser window. Once displayed, you can review and/or print your answer worksheet.
For each set of options you select on the build page, you will
get the same problems each time you click the Generate! button. If you are not satisfied
with the problems generated for you, then you can click the Re-Shuffle button. Once
you click Re-Shuffle, you can re-click the Generate! button to generate a new set
of problems. There is no limit to the number of times you can re-shuffle your problems.
